With the New Year being well and truly under way, it’s probably a good time to have a sort through of your wardrobe. You know that they say out with the old and in with the new. Some of my clothes have definitely seen better days and really I just need any old excuse to hit and shops to see what bargains are out there. Naturally if I am going to be updating my wardrobe, then it goes without saying that I will have to buy some co-ordinating jewellery. Jewellery can be really important and it can certainly make your outfit look fantastic. It you put together some outlandish jewellery with lets say a tailored dress suit, you are really going wrong in the fashion department.

Of course we all differ in our tastes and this is no different when it goes to choosing our jewellery.

From a personal point of perspective, I really love classic jewellery and don’t like anything that is too flashy. I have a couple of designer silver rings and silver necklaces which I wear all the time. I have discovered that it doesn’t pay to buy rubbish and certainly with jewellery items you really do get what you pay for.

On the other hand my sister buys the cheapest of the cheap and to be honest it really does show. Many a time she has worn one of her cheap necklaces for a little too long only to be left with a lovely green neck not a great look I think you will agree.

It’s funny how fashion trends come and go. Take my Nan for instance, she has got some beautiful old silver brooches that she has had for years and just recently my daughter actually asked if she could borrow one of them. I was quite shocked by this, as I had always thought that brooches are an old woman’s accessory, but no I stand corrected because according to my daughter they are in fashion at the moment. Don’t you just hate it when your kids are more up to date than you in the fashion stakes? What annoyed me even more was the fact that my daughter turned her nose up at my jewellery and decided instead to borrow her Grandmas!
