I was watching a programme on the television last night and it set me thinking about how women style themselves.

I personally feel we are all individuals and hate to follow any fashion trends. I am what I am and if people don’t like the way I dress myself then tough.I’m not in any hurry to rush down to the shops just so I can buy clothes that so and so is currently wearing.

However, my teenage daughter loves to follow the latest trends and her favourite teen at the moment is Pixie Lott.It does strike me as strange that even though Pixie is only a few years old than my teenage daughter, she has already achieved so much. Can they really go from little girl to huge pop star in such a short time of space.

Currently my daughter and her friends are absolutely obsessed with any sort of silver jewellery. Her dressing table is absolutely crammed full of silver necklaces and silver bracelets. Most of it she will never wear, but she buys it just the same because her favourite pop star is wearing it.

So many of these pop stars start their careers singing, but then a few years down the line, they bring out their own fashion ranges and so continue to make money out of our teenagers.

Their management are very clever and I suppose they know that their clients only have a relatively short shelf life, so try to make the very most out of them.

Mind you after I have said all of that, thinking back to my teenage days I got to go and see Adam and The Ants in concert. They were absolutely brilliant live and for weeks and weeks I pestered my parents to buy me a jacket just like the one that Adam had. I came within a whisper of dad buying me one, but mum put her foot down at the last minute. So maybe it’s not that things have changed all that much, it’s just that I have finally grown up!!
