We have all seen it right, the likes of Wilma Flintstone and others wearing things like silver jewellery in the cartoons. What are the reasons for them doing this, is it because toon makers are striking a deal with the companies trying to sell specific things or simply because the artists think that a piece of jewellery really makes the character shine with it on? Here are some of the those questions answered.

Deals?

As it stands at the moment it is fortunate that cartoon makers very rarely strike deals with companies that are trying to promote things through them and this is because people would just not take it and would get fed up with it very quickly indeed. one of the other main reasons toon companies do not do it is because they have no need to, they can make plenty of money by just making the cartoon and selling it to the channel that is going to air it, why would they need to team up with a jewellery company?. With this in mind, what is the point in putting a piece of amber jewellery or Celtic jewellery on one of their cartoon characters?

It Works

one of the key reasons that artists will put jewellery on a cartoon character is because they think it completes them, you can see where they are coming from in most instances. do you really think Wilma and Betty would be the same today without the pearl jewellery they both always wore?? nowadays we would think something is missing if we saw these people without them and this is what toon makers see when they are drawing them for the first time.

another reason that these types of things are put on them is to make them relate to people and this works a lot. the Flintstones is a prime example of this because you deem them to be a family!
